From Marble Falls, Blanco is a straight shot south on Highway 281. Blanco State Park is just
four blocks from the historic town square.
The 110-acre park that sits in the scenic Blanco River Valley is a great place to fish, swim, pedal boat or picnic. It’s nicely equipped with a children’s play area,
a wading pool, ladders to get in and out of the river, restrooms and showers. You can even take a short hike along the landscaped trails that lead to City Park and
downtown Blanco. The town offers a variety of shopping options, including antique stores, art galleries, flea markets and artisan shops.
From Blanco, head south for the short drive to Wimberley and you’ll find one of Central Texas’ most popular swimming holes.
Blue Hole is located on the shores of Cypress Creek, and the water temperature never rises above 72 degrees. The privately
owned campground is open to the public and has great camping and picnicking facilities. Many charming bed-and-breakfast inns and cabins also line Cypress Creek
and the nearby Blanco River.
After a day of outdoor fun, there is no better way to relax than with a leisurely dinner at one of Wimberley’s many eclectic restaurants and some shopping at
the many artisan shops that line the small streets of the “town square.”
