Krause Springs Photographer: Randy Brewer

You’ll want to take time to experience the beautiful Krause Springs in Spicewood. From Leakey, head east on Highway 337, and from Medina, head north and continue into Fredericksburg. This little city was German-founded and is known for its abundant bed-and-breakfast accommodations and many quaint shops. From here, you’ll want to look for signs directing you to Spicewood.

Krause Springs is a family-owned campground on a low bluff above Cypress Creek, near the shores of Lake Travis. Thirty-two springs on the grounds feed the crystal-clear, low crossing water and the deep swimming holes. There are plenty of sunning rocks and shady trees, making this a perfect place to wash your troubles away. Two waterfalls gush from the hillside, adding to the natural beauty. Primitive camping and RV hookups are available at Krause Springs. For more amenities, the closest city to the Krause Springs is Marble Falls on the shores of Lake Marble Falls, just 16 miles away.
