Settled in the 1830s by early pioneers, the Town of Flower Mound derives its name from a 50-foot-tall pristine hill covered in wildflowers known, today, simply as The Mound. Located approximately 30 miles north of Dallas and Fort Worth in southwest Denton County, Flower Mound was incorporated in February 1961 with a mayor-commission form of government at the Presbyterian Church on Round Grove Road.

Providing easy access to downtown Dallas, Fort Worth and the DFW International Airport, Flower Mound prides itself on balancing a unique blend of country atmosphere with a dynamic environment for economic development. A master-planned community, Flower Mound is ideal for living, working and playing.

Recreational enthusiasts find inspiration through a variety of outdoor opportunities in Flower Mound including 684 acres of parkland, more than 30 miles of multi-purpose trails, Lake Lewisville and Grapevine Lake, the Town’s southern border.

In addition, numerous special events and traditions bring the entire community together, including the Easter Egg Scramble, Independence Day Children’s Parade and Fireworks Extravaganza, Veteran’s Day Ceremony, and the Holiday Stroll and Christmas Parade.

Flower Mound has been recognized as one of the best communities to live in by Money magazine and the book “Best Places to Raise Your Family: The Top 100 Affordable Communities in the U.S.” www.flower-mound.com.
